People have frequently asked me how I love my life so much, how I get so excited about it or how I balance the things I love. Guess what?! You don’t have to have a different life to love it, you just have to live it differently. Of course life throws unexpected things our way too often for our liking, but more often than not we find ourselves in positions that are results of the actions and decisions we have made ourselves. There’s no reason not to be absoultely, completely and obsessively in love with your own life.
1. You do things because you wholeheartedly want to do them, not because you should or could
There is nothing that you believe you absolutely have to do (apart from legal requirements). If you go somewhere, meet someone or be a part of something, it’s because that is what you truly want to be doing. No one will persuade you into doing something against your instinct, because you trust your decisions and actions to be right.
2. You don’t bother with the opinion of others and especially don’t try to make them like you
You like yourself and you’re the only person you need to answer to. Everything that you do is because you made the decision to do it. You’re not trying to gain the acceptance of anyone else because if it isn’t in line with theirs, it doesn’t really make a difference to you. If they like you, they like you. And if they don’t, you still have the confidence and groundedness to work alongside them.
3. If someone asks you what you do, you don’t reply with a major or job title
Instead, you tell them about the things you are doing with your life, like the places you’ve visited, the projects you’re working on, or the plans you are making. You don’t respond with your college major or job title because you know you’re beyond a definition of such sort. You know better than to wait to live the life that you want to. Whether you love your work or not, you have enough other excitements to balance it out.
4. You live by your own theories; the terms that you have created and chosen
You don’t need a book, an employer or family member to tell you how to live your life. You are able to determine right from wrong and have faith that you can be your own judge. Likewise you are determined to not let others’ expectations of body-image, success and hardwork impact the way that you choose to tread on your journey.
5. You accept what you can’t control
At the end of the day you know that you are only human, and this is what fuels your journey. You know there is no point fearing the pitfalls and so you don’t go out of your way to avoid them. You see them as inevitable and instead accept them, eventually tackle them, and most importantly don’t let them get in the way of the amazing things you’re doing with your life.
6. You get easily excited and channel this into spreading positivity
You believe that there is good in everything and everyone. So you search hard to look for them and cherish them. You know that each day brings so much excitement because you have plans that you’re focused on following. You value the little things in your and your friends’ lives and you know how to celebrate them (perhaps even a little excessively). Your mornings start with you taking the suspense of the day under your wing so you combine this with your positive attitude and treat each day as its own adventure.
7. You don’t waste time attempting to change others
You don’t use up your energy with changing other people because the only person worth changing is yourself. If you don’t like the way someone does something, you hold the understanding that each person does things on their own accord. Instead, you take time to learn how to deal with these people. You don’t need to change them, so you can choose to either guide them or let them go.
8. You live in the moment and dream for the future
You have many hopes, dreams and goals but you won’t let yourself get lost in them. You don’t believe in having limits with aspirations. However, you don’t let looking towards your exciting future make you miss out on the current times. You don’t only live in the moment but you choose to seize it and believe that each moment is a step towards your dreams.
Well well written and so true.
